Halloween or Samhain as is celebrated by Wiccans as the beginning of a new year. The fields have been harvested and we are about to enter the "dark" time of year. Trees and fields are dormant and the animals sleep for the cold winter months.
Samhain is Irish word for "Summer's end". This is also the time of year when we remember friends and family that have died and we celebrate their life. This card represents the Wheel of the Year together with symbols of this time. The envelope attached to the front contains hand made resin incense, ready for charcoal incense burners. It has been made by a Wiccan practitioner of some 35 years.
Winter Solstice or Yule is where the Wheel of the Year reaches its lowest point, the shortest day. A time when the work of the fields has ended. It is a time for feasting, to decorate the house with greenery, holly berries and mistletoe. To burn logs in the hearth. All these are ways see hope in the winter times and to bring happiness at a dark time of year. Soon it will be time for sewing seeds for next years harvest, so enjoy time with the family while you can.
As with the Samhain card the envelopes attached to the front contains hand made resin incense, ready for charcoal incense burners. It has been made by a Wiccan practitioner of some 35 years.
